Far South: Patagonia

Chile is blessed with fascinating geography, running from the driest dessert in the world, passing through wine valleys, mountains, volcanoes and lakes, before arriving in Patagonia, where there is even more to see and do in a region so large, it has been split into two areas: Northern and Southern Patagonia.

Northern Patagonia is home to the famous Carretera Austral, an extension of the same highway that crosses Chile from its northernmost border. Despite being interrupted by the channels at the start of the area, it reappears to guide visitors through amazing and often unspoilt places.

However, it is Southern Patagonia that is most famous, largely because of the Torres del Paine National Park, to which visitors flock each year, to encounter a real far south experience.
