Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt

PUERTO VARAS

Puerto Varas is a beautiful city located on the south-west bank of Lake Llanquihue, with large, historic houses dating back to the start of the twentieth century, preserving its German heritage. Surrounded by impressive landscapes, with the cone-shaped Volcano Osorno in the background, Puerto Varas is the perfect place to get in touch with nature, while enjoying activities such as volcano climbing, trekking in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park or a visit to the Falls of Petrohue.

Ideally visitors would stay in Puerto Varas for a minimum of three nights, allowing them to take advantage of the high-end services the city has developed, providing visitors with the perfect mix of adventure-filled days and the relaxing atmosphere that can only be found in the best hotels.

The city can be reached via Puerto Montt, the capital of the Lakes and Volcanoes district (a 1 hour 40 minute flight), which is just a 40 minute drive from Puerto Varas. Another excellent alternative is arriving from Bariloche in Argentina via the lakes on an Andean crossing that takes you through the heart of the Andes. The journey takes at least one day, although visitors can choose to stay longer in Peulla, a village hidden among the mountains.

Puerto Varas can be visited all year round.
