Lakes and Volcanoes

A land of breathtaking landscapes, the Lakes and Volcanoes district it is located in the south of Chile and is notable for its history of German immigration and the ancient native peoples.

Bordered by northern Patagonia, Argentina and the Pacific Ocean, this privileged area is home to numerous lakes, rivers, waterfalls, around one hundred volcanoes (ninety of which are active) and millennia-old native forests.

To reach the district, there are direct flights from Santiago to Temuco or Puerto Montt. It can also be reached by land from Argentina, on an unforgettable journey sailing through the lakes of the Andes. This latter journey takes at least one day, although visitors can choose to stay longer in Peulla, a village hidden among the Andes.
