Antarctica

This continent has historically been one of the world’s most exotic places to visit. Travelling there reveals the dramatic extremes of the frozen South Pole, the heart of the coldest, driest, windiest, and highest continent on earth. A number of vessels sail the Antarctic waters, from Russian icebreakers to luxury tour ships with reinforced hulls.

Most Antarctica cruises depart from Ushuaia, though itineraries vary. Visitors can also take one of the excellent air cruises that depart from Punta Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica, from which point they can board a ship, thus avoiding the long journey through the Drake Passage.

Depending on the length of your trip, spend time visiting the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands and the mountainous South Georgia. Antarctic cruises offer zodiac trips for close-up encounters with wildlife and the blue icebergs that float silently in the surrounding waters. Visitors can also experience Antarctic kayaking or onshore camping.

On Antarctica tours, onboard experts lecture on the region’s natural history, weather, and captivating wildlife commonly seen on a cruise to the frozen continent.

Definitely the experience of a lifetime!
