The Port of Puerto Montt

The Port of Puerto Montt

Due to its strategic location, Puerto Montt is the northern gateway to some of the most beautiful sceneries in Chile’s Patagonia. To arrive in Puerto Montt is to arrive at the entrance of the lakes and volcanoes, where you can discover Lake Llanquihue and the cities of Puerto Varas, Frutillar and Puerto Octay, where the influence of the German settlers can be appreciated in the architecture, handicrafts and delicious baking, such as cakes, tarts and marmalades.

The area also offers outdoor activities such as fly-fishing, rafting, and kayaking, and visitors can also enjoy nature climbing Volcano Osorno, trekking in the Puntiagudo, Calbuco and Tronador Hills or taking a safari excursion to the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park to admire millennia-old Chilean cypress forests, a tree locally referred to as the Alerce.
